The Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) is an education program and designation managed by the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®. GRI is recognized by the National Association of REALTORS® and is one of the most popular designations for REALTOR® members nationwide. The program focuses on developing and increasing participants’ professionalism and skill set in order to strengthen both the value to consumers and the member’s bottom line.

Fair Housing Academy

Learning Center » NC REALTORS® (4)Common scenarios like providing a buyer with school information or taking a pocket listing can open up real estate professionals to potential discrimination issues.NC REALTORS® realized it was time to expand our fair housing education and create tools and resources to help our Brokers-in-Charge (BICs) navigate issues related to fair housing and prevent serious violations.

Working with the National Association of REALTORS® and other fair housing experts, NC REALTORS® created the Fair Housing Academy to help BICs facilitate fair housing training for agents during monthly meetings, agent onboarding or in any way that you feel is best. The program consists of eight training videos—one specific to property management. In addition, we provide resources to help BICs lead discussions and encourage conversations. This includes a workbook with discussion points to review before each video, and homework for agents to work on individually or together in a group setting.

Online CE Courses

The North Carolina Real Estate Commission requires you renew your real estate license every year. Click here for renewal information. All North Carolina real estate continuing education courses must be completed by June 10 of each annual license renewal period.

NC REALTORS® is pleased to offer 4-hour online courses for CE credit through the Keynote Online Education Series and The CE Shop. All classes must be completed within 30 days of purchase or by June 10, whichever comes first.

Code of Ethics Training

Current Code of Ethics

REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of no less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time within three-year cycles. The three-year requirement is new, and background informationon the change is available.The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.

Training may be completed through local REALTOR® associations or through another method, such as home study, correspondence, classroom courses, or online courses. Local Associations track member training requirements. Please contact your local association for help in identifying your current training requirements. Local Board Directory.

Training Cycles

The current deadline for this cycle is December 31, 2024.

Below are the cycle dates for the Code of Ethics Training Requirement. Training must be completed at any time during these established cycles. Failure to complete training during any cycle will lead tosuspension of membership for the January and February immediately following the cycle deadline, with termination of membership starting March 1 after the cycle deadline.

January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027

NC REALTORS® Training Options

REALTORS® can complete their Code of Ethics Training Requirement through any approved COE Training course, or through the NC REALTORS® course offerings below:

This class will cover the foundation of the Professional Standards process and the latest changes to the Code of Ethics. The class will provide advanced training on how to write a quality Findings of Fact and high-level training for Hearing Panel Chairpersons.
